My teammates and I will be driving up to Bellingham on Saturday the 24th to prep for race day. We're bringing all of our own equipment, including sea kayak and canoe. Does Ski to Sea provide a place where we can safely store our equipment before the race (Sat night and/or Sun morning), so we don't have to drive around with our boats on our cars all weekend? And what about after the race? I read somewhere that racers have like 5 minutes to clear their kayaks off the beach after they finish... is there going to be a safe place to store them temporarily, or do we have to transfer them to our cars directly after we finish? Just trying to get a handle on some of the logistical details of the race so we can plan ahead.
Thanks,
Shawn |

Yes, you do have to pick up your kayak immediately after you cross the finish line. Remember, there's 445 kayaks arriving.
You do get to drop it off on Saturday.
CANOE AND KAYAK DROP OFF ON SATURDAY
The Boy Scouts will watch your canoe or kayak again this year for a small donation.
Canoes: Drop off your canoe on Saturday, May 24, between the hours of 12 Noon and 4:00 PM at Riverside Park in Everson.
Kayaks: Drop off your kayak on Saturday, May 24, anytime after 12 Noon at Zuanich Park at Squalicum Harbor. |

Shawn:
On Saturday you can take your kayak to Squalicum Harbor where the kayak leg begins and leave your kayak with the scouts who camp out there overnight. Up at Riverside Park in Everson we have the same arrangement with another scout troop so you can leave your canoe there overnight. It might be a good idea to hold onto your paddles and PFC's but the boats should be just fine. |
