Subject: Mountain leg tire size

Dear sirs;
I see that you will be allowing 29" tires on the mountain bike leg this year. Are you referring to 700cm tires as on a cyclocross bike? And is this to allow cyclocross bikes to be ridden ?

Thanks for your answer, Terry Takken

The race guide says Mtn, Bikes Only, No Cyclocross or road style bikes are allowed .

Yes, but John, the race guide also still says 26" tire only, and hasn't been updated online. So is it true that 29" tires are allowed, and if so, will that be updated soon in the online race guide? If it was updated there, then also still said Mountain Bikes only, that would bring clarity to folks.

I know a lot of people who think that now that it was announced via email that 29" tires are allowed, that means cyclocross bikes will be allowed. They just think the race guide for the Mtn. Bike leg hasn't been updated, since it doesn't reflect the tire size change either.

The link to the 2007 Race Guide has been removed because of equipment changes made to the 2008 version. The 2008 equipment rules for the 2008 Ski to Sea will be posted online by the end of February.

Apparently some readers were confused with hearing of the changes for 2008 and yet seeing the same rules from 2007. Our apologies for any confusion.

Thanks! It also says mountain bikes only and 26" wheels only on the Race Legs & Info Mountain bike page. If you click Race Legs & Info, then click on Mountain Biking link, the 3rd paragraph, the one with the title: "Equipment", also needs to be updated. Thanks!
